It’s been 2 weeks since I uploaded my first ever Youtube vlog. If you’re also planning on producing your first vlog, keep on reading. My 3-step guide might save your day.

I've also been into exploring my new creative tool, a Huion drawing pad. Hence, the personalized and messy Youtube logo.
By the end of this blog, I bet your readiness to start your Youtube journey will develop from 1/10 to at least 5/10. The remaining 5 will depend on your motivation.
Are you ready?
Here's the 3-step guide for every beginner:
#1 Decide on your topic

It’s the most important decision to make at the beginning. For example, if you are a fashion girlie and have a closet full of clothes, you can vlog about the top 3 pieces that you can't live without. Try them on for the vlog and see where that will take you. Another example, a migrant student with a day full of activities. You can vlog about your typical day as a migrant student and share your favorite moments of the day.
Remember that taking the first step is always the hardest. So don't be too hard on yourself if you feel like you're taking forever to decide.
Reminders: Be careful when sharing your personal information on your vlogs. Protect your privacy and personal identification at all times. Oversight on this area usually happens when you show or mention IDs, home addresses, plate numbers or details about your family. Some vlog themes have a very thin line between oversharing and protecting ones privacy. For example, many people have vlogged about their living alone diaries. Use your instinct and do not divulge all information. For your safety, you have to be careful, filter and decide up to what extent people can learn about you and your private on your vlog.
I may also have watched a little too many episodes of Elementary on Prime while writing this blog, hence these insights.

Preparing your materials ahead will save you so much time. Preparation includes planning and planning must include the following:
Let’s take the fashion girlie example:

#3 Edit and Upload!
Lastly, have fun while editing! Make sure you preview the final cut carefully. Taking the fashion girlie example, make sure that the moments when you're changing from one clothing to another is removed of the final video. We’ve seen this unfortunate mishap happen to a content creator recently where she unintentionally included a sensitive part of the video and uploaded it. Avoid this from happening by making sure you don’t edit and upload when you’re sleepy! Sleep when you're sleepy and just go back to editing when you are fully nourished and energized. Remember, the digital world can be cruel (sad truth).
I'm still learning my way around editing. My first ever vlog is a proof to that! Watch it on this link! I really just focused on enjoying what I produced and that was the outcome. I have so much to improve on and that's okay.
I'm happy to share the free video editing application that I always use. You can conveniently use it on your phone, tablet or computer. See the link by the end of this blog.
In the process of editing, make a thumbnail photo for your vlog. This will serve as your video cover or what your viewers will see before hitting that play button on your video post. It will either attract people to play the video or skip it. You can put the title of your vlog or a catchy phrase mentioned on your vlog here. Some vloggers use this part for the purpose of clickbait. The more interesting or controversial the thumbnail is, the better. The recommended size for Youtube video thumbnail is 1280 x 780 pixels.
